OCA Annual Dinner 2006 and Celebration of Silver Jubilee of the 1980 Batch

The Old Columbans Association held its Annual Dinner and celebration of the Silver Jubilee of the 1980 Batch on Saturday, 29 th April 2006 at the Poolside, St. Columba's School, New Delhi . This was the occasion to bid Br. P.C. Christopher farewell with a heavy heart as he vacated his position as Principal of St. Columba's School. We also welcomed the new Principal , Br. L.C. Lobo (an Old Columban of the 1968 Batch) who spoke to us about his plans in the forthcoming years.

The event had been planned and executed by the OCA Executive Committee and 5 members of the 1980 Batch and went on with clockwork precision. There was anticipation in the air as Columbans, old and new, gathered and hunted out their friends and compatriots. The earliest batch was represented by Col. Tankha who had passed out from School in 1952 and reminisced about how he and his classmates had participated in the “Quit India” movement.

But the major attraction that was awaited with bated breath was the dance performance by European Dancer, Ameera, and the Angels. Ameera mesmerized the audience with her dexterity and while the final segment was scheduled upto 10.30 pm , the dancers performed right upto midnight due to repeated requests from the spectators!

The other highlight of the evening was the mouthwatering delicacies served by Moets who were the caterers for the event. The drinks, food and entertainment kept the over 250 persons present sufficiently occupied until, reluctantly, they had had to leave – as all good things must come to an end! It was goodbye time with promises of meeting up sooner than the next Annual Dinner!
